Telecom
The New Zealand emergency number is 111. Telecom answers 111 calls and puts them through to Fire, Ambulance or Police. There is a charge for making false 111 calls.
New Zealand Fire Service
Anything which could cause loss of life, serious injury or loss of property is a Fire Service emergency. Call 111 immediately.
Ambulance
Call 111 and ask for “ambulance” in a medical emergency – where someone is having chest pain, breathing difficulties, is seriously ill or injured. St John has more information on what a medical emergency is.
If it is not an emergency - see your GP or an after-hours clinic. If you’re not sure - phone Healthline on 0800 611 116 where Registered Nurses will advise you.
New Zealand Police
NZ Police has guidance on when to call 111 and ask for police attendance.
