Sergeant William Shore Hughes

Died: 27 May 1951

In Otaki, at an armed domestic dispute, while trying to protect the female occupants within a house, was shot in the wrist by Noema Raana Rika.

A short time later Rika gained access to the premises and killed all occupants before turning the gun upon himself.
