Eastern District introduction - New Zealand Police
Hello, Kia Ora, Talofa lava, Malo Lelei, Kiaorana, Bula, Ni hao, Konichiwa Welcome to the Eastern Police District - our District Commander is Superintendent Sam Hoyle, based in Napier.
We provide a policing service covering an area that extends from near the tip of East Cape through to southern Hawkes Bay. The map of the Eastern Police District shows the location of all our Police Stations. Most of the people we serve are located in Gisborne, Napier and Hastings. A proportion of the district's hinterland is rugged and isolated. Geographical isolation is a feature of our district, requiring a 'special' policing service. Central to all activities within the Eastern District is a desire to continuously improve our policing service and response. Eastern District Police will maintain a focus on Crime and Crash reduction. Activities will be planned to work toward sustainable reductions in the incidence and effects of Crime and Crashes. Our aim is to work collaboratively in order to reduce crime and road crashes within the Eastern District. Intelligence Informed policing systems based around the District eCrim strategy will be used to ensure tasking and co-ordination of staff and resources are the best in the country. This strategy will ensure a whole of policing approach to problems, opportunities and solutions. Participation from the community will assist in problem solving designed to reduce crime and road crashes. Eastern District Police will also ensure continuous assessment and monitoring of its activities to maintain an effective policing service. Eastern District Focus for 2004-2008:
