Commercial Vehicle Inspection Report (CVIR)

The CVIR report and notification of any defects identified at the time of inspection are sent electronically by Police to the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) who will email the report to the transport operator listed on its database.

I have fixed the defects on my CVIR report, What do I do?

CVIR compliance cannot be processed by Police until an Infringement Notice has been issued. Please note: That not all CVIR reports will be issued with an Infringement Notice.

For compliance to be considered, documentation that the offence has been rectified must be submitted via the general enquiries online form or by post to: Police Infringement Bureau, PO Box 9147, Wellington 6141.

All correspondence must include the notice number.

Can I complete my CVIR compliance over the phone or at a local CVIU office?

Compliance cannot be actioned over the phone or at a local CVIU office.

For compliance to be considered, documentation that the offence has been rectified must be submitted to the Police Infringement Bureau before the final due date.

You can do this by completing the general enquiries form, or by post to Police Infringement Bureau, PO Box 9147, Wellington, 6141.

All correspondence must include the infringement notice number.
