Speed cameras can be anywhere, anytime. Sites for mobile speed cameras are selected because of their crash history. A 1996 study carried out by the (then) Land Transport Safety Authority found a 20% overall reduction of crashes in speed camera sites, so they are a proven tool to reduce speed and prevent crashes.
