I sold someone an item over the Internet and the buyer hasn't paid me for it. What can I do?
Police response will depend on the circumstances. We will consider such things as the amount of money involved and whether your experience is part of a larger pattern of offending. If the buyer is in New Zealand, report it to your local police station. You could also complain to the trading site the person is using and to your Internet Service Provider.
Prevention is the best strategy. For more information on Internet shopping, including what to do if things go wrong, visit the Ministry of Consumer Affairs Scamwatch website.
