1 min read

Police will not be charging anyone following an incident in Wellington late last week between MP Winston Peters and a local taxi driver.

Inspector Marty Grenfell, Wellington Area Controller, said police have completed their investigation and will be taking no further action. The decision has been communicated to both parties.

&#34The complaint from a taxi driver was investigated by a senior officer,&#34 Mr Grenfell said. &#34All parties were spoken to, explanations received and considered.

&#34Police are satisfied no criminal offence took place and we will not be taking the matter further.&#34

An apology from Mr Peters to the taxi driver has been conveyed through police, expressing regret for the incident.
