Operation Ettrick- Kelvin Mercer dies

Kelvin Mercer died at midnight last night in Middlemore Hospital.

Yesterday Mr Mercer was transferred to Middlemore Hospital for post surgery care, at the time of the transfer his condition was described as life threatening.

Operation Ettrick Head of Inquiry, Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Wakelin said we can confirm the father,

Kelvin Mercer, aged 32 died and a post mortem will take place this afternoon at 1.00pm.

The two surviving children, aged 3 and 5 are still recovering well in Dunedin hospital and are likely to be released in the next few days.
