Offender uses security uniform in aggravated robbery

1 min read

Waitakere Police are investigating an aggravated robbery in which the offender wore a Chubb uniform jacket.

The robbery occurred at the Eroxxx Adult Shop, Great North Road New Lynn, on Saturday evening at about 8:30pm.

Detective Constable Cyrus Robinson of the Waitakere CIB says, "It is a concern to both Police and Chubb that the offender used the uniform of a well known security firm during an aggravated robbery. In this case, the lone staff member was not at all suspicious of the man due to the jacket and dark blue pants he was wearing," says Detective Robinson"

The offender spent a few minutes in the shop while another customer was being served and left. When he returned he presented what has been described as a plastic pistol and demanded money.

As the staff member was reaching for the till the offender grabbed him and a struggle took place. The offender then reached into the till and left the shop with a large amount of cash.

Police hope that security vision will help identify the offender. He is described as a male Polynesian of medium to stocky build, about 1.72 metres tall (5' 8).

Both Police and Chubb are asking people to be mindful that a uniform has been used for criminal activity and that any suspicious activity should be reported immediately.
