Porirua CIB is appealing for help after a 19-year-old student was beaten and robbed on Titahi Bay Road early last Sunday morning.

Detective Dave Jones says the victim was walking north on Titahi Bay Road about 3.45am on Sunday, 15 August, when he was approached by a group of men who beat and robbed him.

"The victim’s clothing, his wallet, cash and cellphone were all taken. He was left bruised and battered, with cuts to his face, and was found by a passing police patrol," Detective Jones says.

The attack happened on Titahi Bay Road, near Tangare Drive.

Detective Jones would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack, or from anyone who has information about who might be responsible.

"One person appears to have taken a more active part in the attack than others," Detective Jones says. "That person is believed to be a male Maori or Polynesian, slim to medium build, and aged 16 to 20 years. He’s thought to be around 175cm (5ft 9in) tall with black, short to medium length hair."

If you can help, please call Porirua CIB on telephone 04 238 1483.
