Police seek missing man

1 min read

Auckland Police are looking for a Korean national who came to New Zealand in January of 2003 but hasn’t been heard from for a year.

Jae Hyeon Kim, is 25 years old, 183 cm tall and of thin build.

After arriving in NZ he spent some time Auckland then travelled around the country.

His last known location was in Nelson where he indicated via email to his family in Korea that he might try and farm work.

He kept in regular contact with his family in Korea but they haven’t heard from him since the 16th of September, 2003.

However, he left his passport behind in Auckland and Police don’t believe he’s legitimately left the country.

Police don’t believe he has a bank account in New Zealand and he hasn’t accessed his account in Korea for some months.

"But it’s quite possible he’s working in an isolated part of the country and is living off cash wages", said Constable Cade Sigley.

"We are urging Jae or anyone who may know where he is to make contact with us".

"Kim’s family in Korea are very worried about him and are offering $500 for any information that would help find him".
