Arrest made following serious assault

1 min read

A charge of assault has been laid after a man was found with serious head injuries last night (Tuesday, 4 August) outside Foxton police station.

The 19-year-old victim remains in a serious but stable condition in Wellington Hospital after being found by two police officers lying unconscious outside the police station around 11pm last night.

It appears he had been attacked and then driven to the police station where he was carried or dragged from the car and left.

Today a 22-year-old man from Foxton, believed to be known to the victim, has been arrested and charged with assault. He will appear before Levin District Court tomorrow. More charges may follow.

In the meantime police are continuing to pursue other lines of enquiry in an effort to identify the scene of the assault and the vehicle used to transport the victim to Foxton police station.
