Attempted Abduction In Glenfield
August 24, 2009, 4:49 pm
North Shore Police say a 14 year old girl’s quick presence of mind has been instrumental in preventing her from being abducted.
Detective Kylie McIVOR of North Shore CIB says the female student was walking along Seaview Road in Glenfield at about 4.30pm on Wednesday 5 August 2009. A vehicle drove up beside her and the sole male occupant lent over to the passengers side and offered the girl a ride. The teenager declined and the vehicle then drove off but stopped further up the road.
The man then got out of the car and approached the girl. He grabbed her by the arm and attempted to pull her towards his vehicle. The girl screamed and managed to get free and run away. The man drove off in his vehicle and left the scene in an unknown direction. The victim has been able to give police a good description of her attacker.
