Streets open

1 min read

The cordons around the Shortland St area of Downtown Auckland were lifted at about 11.30am but the building where a suspicious substance was delivered is still closed.

The Dorchester building at number 34 Shortland St will remain closed until the appropriate agency collects the parcel which will be taken to Wellington to be tested.

It was delivered to a company which had staff on the 12th floor. The three staff who were near the package when it was opened have been "decontaminated" and have gone home.

Police inquiries into who is responsible for sending the package will be carried out once the contents of it have been determined.
