BNZ Bank robbery in Kilbirnie, Wellington

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a bank robbery in Wellington today.
The incident occurred at BNZ on Bay Road, Kilbirnie at around 12pm and Police believe it is linked to a previous bank robbery days earlier.
Wellington acting Detective Sergeant Blair Macdonald said he believed the suspect for the robbery is linked to a previous bank robbery on Monday 5 October 2009 at Westpac Molesworth Street, Wellington.
The robbery suspect entered the bank and threatened the teller, demanding money. He left with an amount of cash, carried in a black plastic bag he had brought with him.
The offender is described as
- 25 to 35 years old
- Caucasian
- Clean shaven
- Wearing spectacles
- Distinctive blue and white striped woolen beanie
- 6’ tall and thin build
- Black zip up jacket left undone
- Brown hooded sweatshirt (worn under jacket)
- Black scarf
- Light blue denim jeans
- White sneakers
