Information on Bali bombings sought

1 min read

New Zealand Police are keen to hear from tourists or travellers who have returned home from Bali, or are in New Zealand as their next port of call, who were in or near the locations at the time the bombings took place on Saturday, 1 October 2005.

Superintendent John Kelly, of the Office of the Commissioner, said as part of the close working relationship developed with police in Indonesian and Bali and to help them in their investigations, New Zealand police would like to make contact with people who were in Bali at the time of the bombings.

"We want to hear from those travellers who were in the vicinity of the Raja Noodle Steak Snack House in Kuta Town Square and at Cafe Nayomam and Cafe Mendega in the Jimbaran Bay area when the bombs were set off at around 7.30 in the evening."

Anyone who was in those places or in the vicinity during the bombings or in the hours leading up to the bombings should call the New Zealand Police Bali information line on: 0800 225 446, or go to the Police web site: [web page now retired], and leave contact details such as name, phone number and a few details of where they were at that time.

Police will contact them to obtain further information they might be able to provide.

"Any small piece of information such as suspicious behaviour may be vital to establishing exactly what took place and to identify people who may have been involved in the bombings," said Mr Kelly.
