Two more arrests following stabbing

Police investigating the stabbing of a 22-year-old man in The Square area of Palmerston North last month have made two further arrests.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday, 17 January during which Richard Sargent, from Woodville, suffered two stab wounds to the abdomen and one to the leg.

On 20 January a 12-year-old boy from Palmerston North was arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in the care of CYFS. Last night (Monday, 1 February) two teenagers aged 15 and 17 from Palmerston North were arrested and they have since been charged with wounding with intent to injure. Both will appear in Youth Court in Palmerston North this afternoon and Police will be opposing their bail.

It is believed three others were involved in the incident and enquiries are ongoing to identify those individuals.
