A 20 year old male and a 30 year old female will appear in court tomorrow jointly charged with one charge of theft, one charge of burglary and one charge of being in possession of protected wild life under the Wildlife Act.

Papanui Police swooped this morning around 11am on an address in Shirley and have located and returned the three geckos stolen from Orana Park.

Senior Sergeant Roy Appley said thorough and prompt police investigations enabled police to act swiftly and they were delighted to be able to hand back the animals safely.

"We had a staff member from Orana Park with us to ensure they were handled correctly," he says. "Fast action led to the recovery of the geckos in good condition."

A 20 year old male and a 30 year old female from the Shirley address are being spoken to by police and charges are pending.
