Orewa Police have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a middle aged woman was found at an address in Silverdale yesterday.

Area Commander Inspector Troy Nicholson says police went to an address in Anvil Road in the industrial sector of Silverdale at about 1.00pm.

"Police were advised of the incident by a call from an ambulance en route to the scene." he said.

"On arrival at the address officers found the body of a 50 year old woman. She was deceased. "

"A man who was present at the address was taken to North Shore hospital by ambulance. He has serious injuries and is in intensive care. His condition is being closely monitored."

"A weapon has been recovered at the scene," Inspector Nicholson said.

”We believe this incident is domestic related."

”No other person is being sought by Police in relation to this investigation," he said.

”A team of investigators are back at the scene today and making enquiries locally."

"Results of a post mortem examination are expected to be known later today."

"The deceased woman's name has not yet been released," Inspector Nicholson said.
