Two Aggravated Robberies on North Shore

Police are investigating two aggravated robberies on the North Shore.

At about 6.00am this morning Monday 19 June 2006, a lone male offender confronted an employee at Bunning's Warehouse, in Home Place, Mairangi Bay, soon after he arrived at work to open the store.

The man presented a sawn off shotgun at the employee, and marched him by gunpoint into the store. They then went to the office area where the employee was forced to access the store's weekend takings.

The offender placed the money in a plastic bag and then tied the victim's hands and feet. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

The offender then left the store. His direction of travel and mode of transport is presently unknown. He spent about 10 minutes in the store.

Police have issued a description of the offender:

Polynesian - Male [spoke with Polynesian accent]

Medium build - about 80 kgs.

Height - about 168 cm - dark skinned complexion

Age - about 25 years

The offender was dressed in the following clothing.

A black jacket - silver panels on the sleeves.

Black baseball cap - no lettering

Black ski mask or scarf covering his face

Black trousers or jeans.

Offender carrying a mid sized black backpack - silver panels or reflectors on straps.

INCIDENT No. 2:

The North Shore CIB are investigating the aggravated robbery of a local dairy in Sunnynook. This incident happened at about 5.10pm last night, Sunday 18 June 2006.

Two males wearing balaclavas entered the dairy. The first man to enter was armed with a large machete. After waiting for his associate to enter the shop, he rushed at the sole shop attendant brandishing the machete and demanding money.

After the associate attempted to access the till, and failed, he grabbed cigarettes from the rack. Both men then ran from the shop. The victim followed the offenders and saw then get into a light green, four x door vehicle, possibly a Japanese import.

This vehicle was parked on Sunnynook Road, opposite the dairy.

Police have released a description of these two offenders:

Offender One;

Male,183 cm,Early 20's,

Black Jacket, dark blue trousers/jeans, dark shoes, head and face covered,Medium build, In possession of a machete - 50 cm long, Brown coloured skin

Offender Two;

Male, Slightly shorter, Age Unknown,

Tan coloured hooded sweat shirt,dark pants, blue balaclava,

Medium build,dark coloured skin,

Police would like anyone who was in area at the times of either of these aggravated robberies, who knows anything about these incidents, OR saw anything suspicious at either of these locations, to contact them at the North Shore CIB, at Takapuna Police.
