Drugs, cash and weapons found in Napier and Auckland bust

Searches related to the methamphetamine operation in Napier and Auckland today has resulted in drugs, cash and other weapons being found by police.

A 39-year-old Auckland debt collector and Hell's Angels gang member has appeared in Auckland District Court today. During a search of his home, Police found a quantity of cash and two Asp batons, which are of the type used by Police. A Harley Davidson motorcycle was also seized from the property having allegedly been used in the commission of drug dealing offences.

A 38-year-old Hells Angel member was also arrested for obstruction during the search of the Hells Angels Headquarters. Police found approximately four grams of methamphetamine, $20,000 in cash, scales and small plastic bags used for dealing methamphetamine at the Headquarters and inquiries are continuing to find the person connected with the seizures. Of concern, whilst not unlawful, were three crossbows with bolts and arrows located in members’ bedrooms.

The Napier searches resulted in eight arrests for offences including conspiracy to supply methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for supply, supplying methamphetamine. Those charged with these offences include a 41- year-old fish filletter, 48-year-old sickness beneficiary, 40-year-old unemployed male, 29-year-old unemployed male, 34-year-old unemployed male and a 41-year-old unemployed female. They are all from Napier.

A 45-year-old electrician and a 21-year-old shop worker were also arrested in Napier on minor drug offences during the searches.

Police also searched a Hamilton house as part of the operation. An unemployed Hamilton man has been charged with cultivating cannabis, possession of cannabis and possession of instruments for smoking methamphetamine.

Of those arrested in Napier on the serious drug dealing offences, five were due to appear in the Napier District Court today. One further person will be appearing in the Napier District Court tomorrow.
