Burglars net jet skis and quad bikes in Porirua haul

1 min read

Two jet skis on trailers and two quad motor bikes worth $43,000 have been stolen in a Porirua burglary.

Constable Ragnar Scott, Porirua Police, said the burglary at Boyz Toyz, a specialist motor cycle and jet ski retailer in Parumoana Street, central Porirua, happened some time between 4pm on Sunday 17 September and 7.30am on Monday 18 September.

Police believe at least two people would have been involved in the burglary, with the equipment wheeled out from the Boyz Toyz yard and then loaded onto either a truck or couple of flat deck utility vehicles.

"The offenders cut a padlock on the gate to access the jet skis and bikes which had been parked in the yard," Constable Scott said. "We believe they got into the yard from Jellicoe Street which is directly opposite Countdown supermarket's carpark, and a road with heavy traffic flows."

Police are appealing for sightings of the skis and bikes, and information about who might be responsible for their disappearance.

The property taken is described as:

  • Seadoo Jet Ski model RXP, colour green/black, 1500cc, value $11,000  • Seadoo Jet Ski model XP, colour silver/yellow, 951cc, value $20,000.  • Quad Bike, Bombardier model DS BAJA 650, colour orange/black, value $11,500  • Quad bike, LT50, colour yellow/black, 50cc (child's bike), value $1000.
