Appeal for information on Hamilton CBD assault

1 min read

Hamilton Police investigating the assault on two men in the City's CBD early yesterday morning are seeking a vehicle they believe may lead them to the offenders responsible.

Detective Chris McRae of the Hamilton CIB said two men were assaulted on Victoria St about 3am as they were walking back to their vehicle parked at the nearby museum's carpark.

"One of the men suffered serious head injuries, including a fractured skull, and he is currently being treated at Waikato Hospital while the other man received minor injuries.

"We're interested in hearing from people who witnessed the attack and who saw the attackers get into a people mover type vehicle that left the scene driving on Victoria St with its lights off."

Mr McRae said there were a large number of witnesses to the attack, some of who have come forward, but Police believe there are still several more people who may have information they are yet to speak to.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mr McRae at the Hamilton Central Police station on 07 858 6200, alternatively information can be left anonymously on the CrimeStoppers crimeline on 0800 555111.
