Police seek sightings of offender's car in indecent assault case

Hamilton Police investigating the alleged indecent assault of a young man picked up at a City intersection by a male motorist overnight are appealing for information on a damaged car.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton said the man was picked up about 8.50pm yesterday near the roundabout at the intersection of Norton and Seddon Roads.

"After driving to Argyle St the driver has indecently assaulted his passenger before the man managed to escape from the vehicle.

"Our victim has kicked the rear passenger door of the grey coloured Nissan, believed to be a Bluebird or Primera, as it was leaving causing a dent in the door."

Mr Thornton said another person, who has already been interviewed by Police, threw a rock at the car smashing the rear passenger side window.

"Our victim has described the offender as a male Fijian aged in his early twenties with short, tight curly hair, of medium to solid build.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may recognise the description of the offender, particularly if linked to a vehicle matching the description of the offender's car or from anyone who notices a vehicle of this type that has suffered similar damage."
