Protesters arrested

1 min read

An environmental protest on board the Noble Discoverer ship in New Plymouth is now at an end and the protesters have been arrested.

Seven Greenpeace protesters boarded the ship on Friday and climbed a 50m derrick. On Saturday afternoon one 25-year-old man disembarked and was arrested.

This morning two police officers climbed up the derrick to speak with the remaining six. Those protesters then climbed down and also disembarked from the ship.

They are currently in police custody in New Plymouth where charges will be laid in due course.
