Police seek information about vehicle after incident near airport

After an incident near Christchurch Airport at just after midnight on Monday 23 July, Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen vehicles and people acting suspiciously in the area of the airport at about that time.

Three people - 2 males and a female all in their early 20's, were in a car parked on Avonhead Road by the airport runway watching the airport. A group of three unknown males - all male European, have approached them demanding cigarettes and other items.

One of them has got into the back of the complainants' car, terrifying them and told them to get out of the car. He has then joined in with the other offenders smashing the majority of the car's windows. One complainant was punched in the face. The driver has tried to start the car and drive off, but it wouldn't start.

SUSPECTS:   • 1x Male European, early 20's. Small build, average height, shaved red hair, freckles on face, shoulders, arms.   • 1x Male European early 20's. 5'6". Shaved No 2 dark hair, goatee and mo, med/stocky build.  • 1x Male European early 20's tall & lanky.

The offenders may have been in a white car or a white van with blue stripes and roof racks or an air conditioning unit on the roof.
