Bus Exchange update

1 min read

Police believe they may now be investigating four alleged minor explosions this afternoon, all around 3pm.

The incidents were;

1 CD Store cnr Colombo / Cashel Streets (not High St as previously advised)

2 Shell at Carlton Mill corner

3 the Bus Exchange

4 Westpac Palm, around 3.30pm

Detective Sergeant Mark REID says police are investigating whether the incidents are related. They are collating all information.

All items were in plastic drink bottles and the one at the Bus Exchange was left in a bag on a seat. He advises people to not pick up anything similar one might see.

"What caused the explosions is not yet known however they do not have a large range and people should not be too concerned. However if they see any such item they should stay away, not approach it but call police immediately." he says. "Who is doing this is not yet known but on at least one occasion two people were seen."

DS Reid say the stupidity factor of whoever is doing this concerns him.

Anyone who saw any information relating to the previous incidents is asked to contact police, phone DS Reid phone 363 7 717.
