Reward Posted in 'Cold Case' Murder Enquiry

1 min read

A seventy five thousand dollar reward has been posted for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the death, in 1998, of Japanese tourist Kayo Matsuzawa.

Twenty nine year old Kayo Matsuzawa's naked and decomposing body was found in a locked cupboard in a downtown Auckland building.

The investigation has remained open since September 1998 however Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Scott has recently secured the reward in the hope that it will help trigger people's memory of the homicide known as 'Operation Net'.

He believed Kayo Matsuzawa was in Auckland for only a short time before being killed. 'Maybe someone who knows about the killing of Kayo has not come forward before with information, for whatever reason but they are now prepared to'. The reward notice also says that 'immunity from prosecution' will be considered for people who come forward with information leading to a conviction.

Anyone with any information should call '0800 murder' or go to www.police.govt.nz.
