The OFCANZ, Auckland Motorcycle Gang Unit yesterday seized over 300 grams of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of between $128,400 and $300,000, firearms and thousands of dollars in cash from an associate of the Auckland Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

Detective Senior Sergeant Lloyd Schmid of OFCANZ in Auckland said the man was initially stopped in Albany where a search of his vehicle found 18 grams of methamphetamine.

A later search of his home found a further 300 grams of methamphetamine, a Glock handgun, a 357 Magnum revolver, two .22 calibre rifles, one with a pistol grip, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and five tasers, along with tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

Mr Schmid said OFCANZ is making further inquiries into the use of these firearms in other serious crime.

Mr Schmid said the arrest followed an investigation by OFCANZ and its specialist Motorcycle Gang Unit. The termination involved members of the Armed Offenders Squad, Specialist Search Group and Police from the Waitemata District CIB.

"The arrest and seizure was an excellent result," Mr Schmid said.

He said the cache of weapons found was of particular concern.

"Any drug dealer in possession of firearms puts both police and the community at risk."

The man, an unemployed beneficiary, will appear in the North Shore District Court this morning charged with possession of Class A and C controlled drugs for supply, selling Class A controlled drugs and a number of firearms related charges.
