1 min read

A King Country man wanted on warrants to arrest in relation to a rural burglary and the theft of a utility vehicle near Otorohanga last week was arrested in Hamilton this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Graham Pitkethley of the Waikato CIB said the 31-year-old Otorohanga man was arrested on Masters Ave in Hamilton about 2.45pm without incident.

"He is currently being interviewed in relation to the Maihihi burglary that the warrants to arrest were issued for and he is also helping us with our enquiries in relation to a shooting on Hamilton's Churchill Ave on Wednesday night.

"The man's arrest was carried out with the assistance of the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad who assist our General Duties officers in situations such as these to ensure the safety of not only the public and our staff but the offender as well."
