1 min read

Earlier today Christchurch Police arrested a 71 year old man and charged him with the murder of Nola Doreen Billesdon. Ms Billesdon died on 18 February 2001 at her home in Somerfield. She was 77 when she died.

Police began their investigation after information was received from the public which raised concerns about the cause of Ms Billesdon's death.

Police would like to hear from anyone who might have known Ms Billesdon at the time of her death who may have information relevant to the ongoing investigation.

"It is possible that the man arrested has spoken to friends, family or acquaintances about how Ms Billesdon died. We are very keen to speak to those people", said Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Wormald who is heading the murder investigation. "Anyone with information can contact the investigation team at Christchurch Central Police Station on 3637400".

The arrested man, who is a relative of Ms Billesdon, will appear in the Christchurch District Court at 2.15 pm today.
