School girl attacked

1 min read

At 5.15pm on Tuesday 1 July 2008 a 13 year-old girl was attacked in Smarts Road Hornby. The girl was returning home from her after school job when she was followed from the Branston Shops along Carmen Road and into Smarts Road near the railway crossing where she was attacked.

The male that attacked the girl was first noticed acting strangely at the pedestrian crossing between the Branston shops and Harcourts where he became stuck on the traffic Island between the flows of traffic. The male has then followed the girl to the railway line on Carmen Road where he has been seen stretching as though he was about to do exercise. He has then attacked the girl in Smarts Road where he has pulled her to the ground and indecently assaulted her.

Members of the public hearing the girls screams came to her aid and the attacker ran off towards the railway lines on Carmen Road. He has been described by witnesses as being athletic and a fast runner.

A description of the attacker is male of Asian descent wearing glasses, aged approximately between 18-22 years, athletic to slim build, clean shaven, about 5'6" tall. A likeness of the attacker is attached with the sketch.

Anybody with any information about the attack or the identity of the attacker can contact the Hornby Police on 3441800.

We have already had calls from members of the public who have seen the attacker before and after the attack following the article in today's Press,

"Somebody in the community knows who is attacker is"
