Intruder in elderly woman's home - charges laid

1 min read

A 20-year-old man from Palmerston North will appear at the town's court this morning (Friday 14, November) charged with burglary. The charge follows reports of screaming from a house in Rangiora Avenue early yesterday morning and the discovery of an injured 99-year-old woman. Further charges may be laid depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Officers have not yet been able to complete a full interview with the victim and hope to work closely with her over the next couple of days to ascertain the full circumstances of what occurred in her home.

This morning the woman remains in hospital having been kept in overnight for observation. She is suffering from bruising and trauma.
