Motorcyclist killed in Pahiatua

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road crash which claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Pahiatua at the weekend.

The crash happened around 3.50pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday, November 30) on Makomako Road when a motorbike was in collision with a Holden Commodore.

The rider of the motorbike, 49-year-old Anthony Jury from Pahiatua died a short time later at the scene. His 45-year-old female pillion passenger was airlifted to hospital where she is currently in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Holden was shaken but not injured.

Mr Jury, known as Tony, was a local businessman and volunteer fire officer.

The crash is currently subject to an investigation by the Serious Road Crash Investigation Unit to establish the cause.
