Man Shot Dead In Redvale

North Shore CIB is investigating an incident in which a 28 year old man has been shot dead. Police went to an address in Redvale, Rodney, at 10.50pm Monday 12 January 2009. On arrival they discovered the body of a male already deceased. A firearm has been seized.

Officer in Charge of the Investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Kim LIBBY says a number of people were present at the Haighs Access Road house at the time of the incident and these persons are being spoken to by police.

The address has been secured for a full scene examination by forensic staff. This is expected to take several days. Details of the deceased man have not been released as next of kin are still to be notified and informed of his death.

Mr. LIBBY says a 30 year old male has been arrested. He will appear in the North Shore District Court this morning on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. Further charges may be considered but no decision will be made until all ongoing enquiries have been progressed.

Police are not looking for anyone else regarding this incident.
