1 min read

A teenager has today (Friday, 16 January) been charged with assaulting a man in Palmerston North, fracturing his skull.

The charge relates to an incident in Tweed Street in the early hours of Thursday, 8 January when a security guard serving a noise abatement notice came across a man unconscious in the garden of the house.

The 34-year-old man remains in Palmerston North Hospital in a serious but stable condition having had a brief transfer to hospital in Wellington following some concerns over his condition. He is still not in a position medically to speak to police and the long term prognosis is still unclear.

A 17-year-old man was arrested in Palmerston North this morning and will appear in the town's District Court this afternoon charged with the assault.
