Arrests in Five Cross Roads robbery

1 min read

While Police hunt a third offender two people will appear in the Hamilton Youth Court today in connection with Sunday's robbery of a Five Cross Roads store.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall of the Hamilton CIB said it just a case of the lone male shop attendant of the video store being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Our offenders have ridden their bikes with a third boy to a local liquor store with the intent to rob it but it was closed.

"They've then gone to a second store but decided there were too many people present before opting to rob the video shop."

It is alleged the 15-year-old boy confronted the shop attendant with a pistol and demanded cash while the 17-year-old produced a black sports bag for the victim to place the money in.

The pair then met up with their friend and the trio peddled off.

When caught the offenders told Police they used the money from the robbery to then purchase five boxes of beer from a local supermarket.

The third offender, a 15-year-old boy known to Police, is still at large and inquiries are continuing into his whereabouts.
