A funeral for Porirua homicide victim Mr Lewis Thorp, 49, will be held at the local Takapuwahia Marae on Sunday morning, 6 July.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, head of Porirua CIB, says a post mortem was completed early this evening and Mr Thorp’s body released to his family.
"Police have received a lot of cooperation from Mr Thorp’s family and friends in the Porirua community," Mr Oxnam says. "It’s always tragic when someone dies in circumstances such as the case we’re investigating."
Guards will be maintained overnight on the Kahika Grove, Elsdon, home. Police and ESR forensic experts will continue the crime scene examination at the house tomorrow. Background inquiries will also continue throughout the weekend.
