Alexandra Police Seek Public's Help In Search For Missing Elderly Man

1 min read

Alexandra Police are seeking help from the public in their search to locate an 81-year-old man who has been missing since yesterday.

Russell Young, aged 81 years, of Ashworth Street, Alexandra, left his address yesterday afternoon in a red 1994 Toyota Corolla saloon car, registration number TC6817. He has not been seen since.

Mr Young suffers from Alzheimer's and Police have growing concerns for his safety.

There has been no contact from him since he left his home and it is unusual that he would stay out overnight.

Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk says Mr Young is a keen fisherman and he may have been looking for an opportunity to go fishing locally.

"We're urgently seeking any sightings of Mr Young or his vehicle throughout the Central Otago area."

Mr Young's vehicle is described as a bright red four-door saloon car in good condition.

Mr Young is a tall, thin gentleman who wears glasses and is believed to have been wearing a cap, long trousers and a dark coloured sleeveless vest when last seen. He may appear disorientated if spoken to.

Anyone seeing the red saloon vehicle or Mr Young is asked to contact their nearest Police station immediately.
