Hawke’s Bay Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man involved in an unsavoury incident at a local recreational park yesterday (Thursday).

At about 3.45pm a female was approached from behind in the northern corner of Park Island in Napier while she was sitting on a bench seat.

The man grabbed at the teenage victim before she struck him, allowing her to break free of his grasp.

This has traumatised this victim and we ask for your help to catch this man.

He is described as Caucasian, about 182cm tall, medium build, aged about 40, wearing a grey hooded top, and black work boots. He was described as unshaven.

This was a very brave response from the victim and we want to catch up with the man.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Hawke’s Bay Police on 831 0700.

Always be aware of your surroundings while out and about. There’s useful advice here on the New Zealand Police website.
