This morning Gisborne Police arrested a man 21-year-old man in relation to the robbery of a Japanese tourist which occurred on Sunday 20 May.
The 21-year-old has been charged with robbery and will be appearing in the Gisborne District Court today.
The victim was taken to Gisborne Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and discharged. Police have recovered most of the property taken in the robbery which is being returned to the victim as he returns home to Japan.
Police would like to thank the members of the public who stopped and assisted the victim.
As the matter is now before the courts Police is unable to comment further.
