Arrest following Petone TAB robbery

1 min read

Police have made an arrest in relation to two robberies over the past few months.

The first was the aggravated robbery of the Petone TAB in June 2017, where the offender entered the premises armed with a knife and stole cash.

The second was a robbery in Palmerston North on 18 August 2017 where a woman was approached in a service lane and her handbag was forcibly taken from her.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in Whakatane this weekend in relation to both incidents.

He will appear in the Whakatane District Court on 23 August facing charges of aggravated robbery, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, male assaults female and theft.

The arrest comes on the back of good work from staff across the country in linking the incidents and sharing information to ensure this person can be held to account.
