1 min read

Please attribute to Senior Sergeant Shane Miles:

Nelson Police have arrested a man after receiving a report at 8:00pm of a woman being sexually assaulted at an address in The Brook suburb.

The 28-year-old man, who was unknown to the victim, fled before Police attended.

However, he was apprehended by Police in a nearby street half an hour after the attack.

Police believe that before this incident the man has approached other females in the Nelson CBD and The Brook area, and acted inappropriately.

We would like to hear from them, to check on their welfare and to ensure any contact they have had with the man is fully investigated.

The man, an NZ European, was wearing a blue-check bush shirt, a brown hunting and fishing polar fleece and a black beanie.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nelson Police on 03 546 3840, or information can being given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The victim is currently being treated at Nelson Hospital and is being supported by Police, her family and other relevant support services.
