1 min read

Christchurch Police yesterday arrested one person in relation to a spate of burglaries at backpackers and hostels in the past week.

A 31-year-old male was arrested and he will appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning facing a number of burglary charges.

“It's excellent work by the Christchurch Tactical Crime Unit in locating and arresting the person responsible for theses burglaries so quickly,” says Detective Sergeant Damon Wells.

“We understand that this has been stressful for the victims, and we are pleased to have been able to locate and give back to them the property stolen”

“We are committed to making sure that anyone who visits our city has a safe and enjoyable time.”
