Two men have been arrested and charged following a number of recent burglaries and cars being broken into in the Hastings CBD and Taradale areas.
A 25-year-old man from the Napier area has been charged with burglary and theft from a car, and a 29-year-old from Hastings has been charged with burglary and theft from a car.
The pair have been remanded in custody and will appear in the Hastings District Court in October.
Detective Sergeant Glenn Restieaux says it is a timely reminder for people to be vigilant with locking cars and securing outdoor sheds.
"Even if vehicles are parked down a long driveway, it is important to always secure them."
Police enquiries are continuing.
