Bar robbed in Rotorua

1 min read

Police are investigating a robbery at a Rotorua bar this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7.55am at the Kiwi Spirit bar on Hinemoa Street. A female staff member heard a knock at the door and when she went to investigate a man forced his way into the bar.

The offender stole a large sum of cash before leaving and it's not clear at this stage if he was on foot or had a vehicle. An initial description indicates he wore a dark top with a distinctive yellow fluorescent design on the back, dark trousers and black and white shoes or trainers.

The staff member is shaken but not injured.

Further information will be released when available. In the meantime police want to hear from anyone in the area of Hinemoa Street or the CBD area this morning who saw or heard anything suspicious to call Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
