A pöwhiri will take place at Te Papaiouru Marae, Ohinemutu on Monday (1 December) to welcome the new District Commander of the Bay of Plenty District, Superintendent Andy McGregor.

Supt McGregor joins the District from the South Island where his most recent role was Canterbury Metro Commander. He was recruited from Christchurch in 1980 and has held a number of senior positions in Canterbury District, but is no stranger to the North Island having spent a number of years policing in Auckland and Gisborne. He was also the National Manager Communications based at Police National Headquarters in Wellington between 2008 and 2012.

Any media wishing to attend Monday’s pöwhiri should contact Communications Manager Kim Perks on 027 234 8256 for further details and must adhere to all protocols set out by the marae.

Opportunities to speak with the new District Commander will be made available from 1 December and these requests should also be directed to Kim Perks.
