1 min read

The name of the diary that was robbed in Waihi is:

Maybelle Superette

At 12.50pm today, Thursday 28 July, a man entered the Maybelle Superette on Kensington Avenue in Waihi armed with what appeared to be a pistol.  He is described as Maori or Polynesian of solid build who was wearing a hat and a scarf over his mouth at the time.

He made the shop keepers lie down on the floor of the shop and then took money and cigarettes. The man was in the dairy for a reasonable amount of time before presenting the pistol.

Fortunately nobody was injured. The man left on foot down Parry Palm Avenue, which is the main state highway, in the direction of Paeroa.

Police are wanting to speak to anyone who may have seen the robbery at the shop or may have seen this man the vicinity of the shop.
Police are appealing to any witnesses who may have entered the shop before or after this robbery also.
