CRASH: SH16 Waimauku: 1815hrs

Police and emergency services are presently at a serious,  3  car crash on State Highway 16 between McPike road and Woodhill park Road, Waimauku.

A vehicle travelling north from Helensville has crossed the centreline and collided with a minivan travelling in a southerly direction.   After hitting the minivan the north bound vehicle has veered off and hit another vehicle coming to a stop.  Due to the force of the crash the minivan has gone down a 20 metre bank where it came to rest.

11 persons in total are being treated at the scene.  These persons consist of both adults and children. At present there are two persons status 2 and one person in a critical condition status 1.

Westpac  Rescue Helicopter  is on site and removing the more seriously injured persons to hospital.

The road  is closed from State Highway 16 from the Muriwai turn off with traffic being diverted to Peak road.   South bound traffic is being diverted to Kiwitahi road.
