1 min read

At approx 3:30pm on Sat 5 Dec, a 45 year old female was riding her bike on Portsmouth Drive in the direction of Portobello.

Around the area of The Molars, near the intersection of Strathallan, she has been accosted by an unknown male who shouted at her before grabbing her bike and punching her approximately four times in the right side of her body.

The male has then thrown the female, still on her bike, onto the grass verge of Portsmouth Drive.

During this attack the female has been screaming and two unknown males have come to her aid from a nearby parked car.

Police would like to speak with these good samaratians who are described as caucasian and aged approximately in their mid twenties.

As a result of their intervention, the offender has run off in the direction of the wharf.

The suspect is described as a caucasian male, aged in his 40’s. He was of solid build, unkempt sandy blonde hair, shoulder length, clean shaven. He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt with a large logo or picture on the front and a pair of light blue jeans.

Anyone with information which may assist Dunedin police are asked to call either the Dunedin police on 03 471 4800 or can pass information on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
